Mangalore, May 7: Advocate from the city, P P Hegde, has claimed that the allegations made against him in case No 93/2014 registered in city (north) police station here are utterly false.
It may be recalled that Hegde and independent Lok Sabha candidate in the recent election, Sudatta Jain, had been named in the complaint filed by MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, charging both of them of trying to tarnish his image by collecting details of his cell phone calls without authorization, and floating unsubstantiated rumours against him through social websites.
In a statement, Hegde said that a false complaint driven by political vendetta and envy over his rising stature stands lodged against him.
"The allegations made against me in the complaint are baseless. A concocted story containing untrue facts has been weaved to defame me. I will take legal steps to effectively counter these untrue allegations," he clarified.
He stated that thousands of youth including him have worked to support the candidature of Narendra Modi. "As it has become certain that Modi will become the Prime Minister, attempts are being made by detractors to create a fissure in the party by filing such false complaints against me," he said.
"The details of more than three thousand phone calls made by Nalin Kumar to the woman have been published in the media. I have no connection with them. There should be an investigation to find out if the calls were genuine. I urge the police to conduct an investigation everyone has the right to know the truth," he stated, adding that he would initiate legal action against the complaints.
In the meantime, Bharti Airtel said in a release that it has been falsely implicated in a complaint filed by MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel. It said that the cell phone number provided in the complaint do not relate to their company, and that going by the number given therein, these numbers have been allotted by BSNL.
