Mangalore, May 6: The Karnataka Dalita Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) on Tuesday May 6 staged a protest against yoga guru Baba Ramdev for his recent remarks against Dalit women with reference to Congress national vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
The protestors demanded his arrest and burnt his effigy near the DC's office here.
Addressing the protest, Prof Umesh Chandra said, "Ramdev had come to Mangalore a few years ago for a yoga programme. He fooled people with his words. The remarks he made on Dalit women shows what notions he has about women; his words represent his thinking and cheap mentality. He considers women as an object of lust."
He further added, "He always talks about black money, but has never spoken about his own assets. The government should make a thorough investigation into Ramdev’s assets. He should be arrested under IPC Section 354 for indecent representation of women, act of atrocity and sedition. Today, people have realised the true colours of Baba Ramdev. He fools people in the name and disguise of a 'saint'."
Demanding Ramdev’s arrest, the DSS submitted a memorandum to the chief minister through the DC.
Congress member P V Mohan also spoke during the protest.
District convener of DSS Chandu L Belthangady, state organizing secretary Rohith L, Sundar Master and others were present during the protest.
