Bahrain, May 5: 'Mogaveers Bahrain', the first overseas association of the Mogaveera community, inaugurated its decennial celebrations at the Indian Club hall in Bahrain in the presence of a houseful audience recently.
The anniversary committee president and the chief founder of the organization, Leeladhar Baikampady led the preparations in a disciplined and meaningful way. The event was praised wholeheartedly by Tulu Kannadigas community for its grandeur and discipline.
Dr Deviprasad S, well-known doctor who came all the way from Mangalore was chief guest. He inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp, after which the new office-bearers of the association were inducted. The office-bearers were honoured in a traditional way by the chief guest Dr Deviprasad.
Businessman Satyajit from Mahe, Puducherry unveiled the logo in commemoration of the tenth anniversary. Dr Deviprasad released a list of special programmes scheduled for the upcoming year.
Visiting artistes Navinchandra Koppa, Kalavati Dayanand, Jagadish Puttur, Deepakraj Ullal and Chandrashekar Yermal provided grand entertainment and took the celebrations to whole new level. The local artistes also presented dances and other entertainment programmes which won the hearts of the audience.
The skit on Mogaveera community deities and the creator of Tulunadu Parashuram were breathtaking.
Slides of the activities of the organization in the past year were shown at the beginning of the programme.
Mumbai’s Shabari International and Thenka Yermal Friends group were the sponsors of the programme. Mangalore’s Global Associates were co-sponsors.
Representatives from social organizations in the neighboring countries such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia were present.
Navin Karkera, chief secretary introduced and welcomed the chief guests at the beginning of the programme. Leeladhar Baikampady, president of the organization delivered the keynote address. Chandrashekar L Mendon introduced the new office-bearers. Various guests, artistes and the people who supported the event were felicitated.
Cultural secretary Suresh Amin proposed the vote of thanks. Multi-talented artiste Navinchandra Koppa ably compered the programme.
