Kundapur, May 4: In a sad incident, the wife of a businessman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a pond here on Saturday May 3.

The deceased, identified as Prema (43), wife of Nagaraj K, owner of Gayatri Timbers depot, was reportedly depressed because of her prolonged illness and hence took the extreme step, it is learnt.

Sources said that Prema had been suffering from kidney ailment for the past few months, but as the family members were unaware of the problem, the ailment worsened in due course of time. She is said to have suffered immense pain on Friday May 2 during the day. That night her husband Nagaraj came home late, and after serving him dinner at around 2 am, she disappeared from her house, it is said.

Her body was found on Saturday morning in a pond about a kilometre from their house.

It is said that Prema left behind a note in which she stated that no one was responsible for her death. The death note stated that she was unable to bear the intense pain and that her ailment alone was the reason for her taking the extreme step. She asked her husband to look after their children well and to give Rs 5,000 to Tallur Mahalingeshwara Temple.

Prema and Nagaraj's two children are pursuing their medical studies in Bangalore.

A case has been registered in the Kundapur police station.

It is most unfortunate and sad that a woman with a businessman husband and two children pursuing a medical career in Bangalore should take such a drastic step. May her soul rest in eternal peace and deepest sympathies to her beloved families and loved ones.

Only through prayer, faith in God and of course proper medical treatment, we can overcome such fear and physical pain.

I have such a terrible experience when I had a slip disk (Lumbar - vertebra fixation)

    God forbid.

May this lady's soul rest in peace. It is amazing that her husband came home at 2 am (? from a business meeting !!?) and this poor woman had had to wait to serve his food at 2 am. No wonder this man was not aware this lady's suffering. This is a lesson for men folk treat your wives with love, respect and understanding.

May her soul rest in peace. If proper care was given a life could have been saved.End stage renal failure is not the end of life.Good emotional support and proper medical aid will transform the situation. Now a days dialysis unit are available in many specialty hospitals.I agree that it is bit painfull to visit hospital thrice in a week for the treatment. But there are chances of finding kidney donars and there are number of social workers/NGO's working on it.Finance was not an issue because already they are in business. How sad, children being medicos unable to guess the situation their own mother going through.

This extreme step to commit suicide was resorted by this lady purely because she was depressed.
Depression brings in a feeling of hopelessness and hence suicidal tendencies get stronger. Her ailment would have been medically treated, but her depression was something that had to be looked into first.
Depressed people are often misunderstood as they tend to get upset fast they become hyper sensitive and tend to be sad all the time.
