Mangalore, May 2: Former deputy chief minister K S Eshwarappa on Friday May 2 demanded immediate resignation of state cabinet minister Abhaychandra Jain for allegedly threatening a reporter of a Kannada daily.

Addressing a press meet here at the district BJP office here, Eshwarappa said such threat of physical assault to a reporter by a minister was a first incident of its kind in the history of state politics.

"Abhaychandra Jain should step down from his post immediately and extend an unconditional apology to the press. If Jain refuses to resign, it is the duty of chief minister Siddaramaiah to sack such an irresponsible minister from his cabinet," he said.

Eshwarappa said the minister’s statement amounted to degradation of the freedom of expression of media. "This was not only an insult to the media but also to democracy. If the Congress party does not act against its minister, the party high command and president Sonia Gandhi have no right to speak of the freedom of press. BJP is in no mood to politicize this issue but such acts should be condemned by everyone irrespective of any political party," he said.

"The BJP would decide its further course of action in this case after convening a meeting headed by the state unit president Prahlad Joshi on May 7. I am confident that Jain would submit his resignation before the meeting," he added.

Former minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, Nagaraj Shetty, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, district president Pratap Simha Nayak and others were present during the press meet.

Yes Abhaya Chandra Jain is not suitable / fit to continue as MLA of Moodabidri as he is betraying the people to continue as a minister in Siddu Govt.

But this corrupt BJP goon Eshwarappa has no moral right to ask his resignation.

Let the reporters association take a strict legal action against this MLA and the local people teach a good lesson to him.

Eshwarappa acts as if he is whiter than white. He is the most corrupt man may be worse than Yeddi and crooked. Jain is not a saint either, but any day he is better than Eshwarappa who is also communal storer for his benefit.

Why Eshwarappa is so much concerned for ACJain's well being? Age most probably which may cause ACJ to fall from raised flat forms. Hence Esh is requesting ACJ to step down immediately to level ground.

These BJP guys, anytime and every time one can hear from them only these things:
"Resign immediately" "step down" and to do these they spend 300 days in a year on the road with their mouths wide open, vertically!!

    Eshwarappa,
For a small error, kindly do not seek resignation...
Childish behavior like this will not go well even in your party...
You are behaving as if you will ask your mother to reverse your birth for some small error what she did...

Bache Gowda slapped a vehicle owner for overtaking his vehicle in a road rage. Why he was not asked to resign?
According to his own party stand- let the investigation go on & let the court find him guilty, then only he needs to resign.
Let him answer why more Criminals, murderers, rapists & corrupt have been given tickets to Lok Sabha by BJP than any other party?
Is this the Modified way of honoring the criminals BJP WAY?
