Mangalore, May 1: The Common Entrance Test (CET) for professional courses began all over Karnataka on Thursday May 1.
Students were seen busy studying and making last minute preparations outside their respective exam centers.
The exams are being held in as many as 15 centers in the city of Mangalore and also in Udupi, Kundapur and Karkala.
This year in Dakshina Kannada district, 10,976 students are writing CET and in Udupi 3,894 students are attending.
"Biology and mathematics exams are being held today, while physics and chemistry will be held tomorrow. Apparently, we come across more absentees for biology exams, as students think twice with medicine becoming the choice of fewer students these days," said Sr M Shamita, principal of St Agnes PU College.
"Being absent for one or two CET exams has become a part of education, as students who want to enter into the engineering field appear for mathematics, chemistry and physics and those want to enter into medicine appear for biology, chemistry and physics," she added
