Sullia, Apr 30: The state high court, through an order issued on Tuesday April 29, entrusted the probe relating to use of fake stamp papers to criminal investigation department (CID).

Relating to the case, Panja-based notary, B V Keshava Bhat, his office assistant Tara Rai, and Devi Prasad, who have been accused of their involvement in the case, are already in judicial custody. In connection with the disappearance of main accused, B V Keshava, his office assistant as well as elder brother, Subrahmanya Sharma, had been arrested for helping him by providing shelter.
The notary was found using fake stamp papers, fake rubber stamps and other things to manufacture documents which appear like genuine, but were illegal. The act of the notary, in addition to deceiving the general public, had also caused loss to the exchequer, quantum of which is yet to be ascertained.
Judge of the high court, Justice Satyanarayana, passed an order relating to the case on Tuesday, in response to a petition filed by the G Thimmaiah, to order a CID probe in view of the gravity of the case.
However, the high court disallowed a petition filed by the then Subrahmanya station police sub-inspector, Sunil Kumar, questioning his suspension from service for releasing the main accused in this case on bail after his arrest.
