New Delhi, April 28 (IANS): Idea Cellular posted 91 percent jump in the consolidated net profit for the fourth quarter (January-March) of 2013-14 on increased voice call prices, a company statement said here Monday.
The net profit for the fourth quarter stood at Rs.589.8 crore compared to Rs.308.2 crore it posted during the corresponding period in 2012-13.
The consolidated gross revenue of the Aditya Birla group company rose to Rs.7,043.8 crore in the fourth quarter from Rs.6,061.4 crore posted during the corresponding quarter in 2012-13.
The company intends to launch 3G services in Delhi in 2015 on the recently acquired 900 MHz spectrum, the statement said.
Idea provides pan-India GSM mobile services in all 22 service areas of India. Idea won 3G spectrum (2,100 MHz in May 2010) in 11 important service areas which cover around 73 percent of its current revenue and account for approximately half of national mobile industry revenue.
In the recently concluded spectrum auction (February 2014) for 900 MHz and 1,800 MHz spectrum, Idea won 5MHz spectrum in 900 MHz frequency band in Delhi service area, LTE compatible 1,800 MHz spectrum in eight service areas along with top-up GSM spectrum in seven service areas.
