Mangalore, Apr 28: Popular Front of India (PFI) on Monday April 28 condemned yoga guru Baba Ramdev's statement against Dalit women and demanded his immediate arrest.
Baba Ramdev had ridiculed Congress vice-president and Amethi Lok Sabha candidate Rahul Gandhi saying 'he goes to Dalits' house for honeymoon and picnic. Had he married a Dalit girl, then his luck could have clicked and he would have become the Prime Minister'.
Though later Ramdev apologised for his statement, the Election Commission banned him from further canvassing in Lucknow.
But the Congress and several organisations around the country demanded the arrest of Ramdev for insulting women and particularly Dalits.
Popular Front in a press statement criticised Ramdev saying Baba Ramdev should not forget how he tried to escape from police by wearing salwar kameez or churidar. "How can a swami who cannot respect woman, teach yoga?" PFI questioned.
"Dalits are the assets of India, we cannot keep quiet if anyone insults Dalits. By insulting Dalits, Ramdev has insulted the Indian Constitution. Just apology is not enough, Ramdev must be in jail," said PFI in a press release to media.
