Mangalore, Apr 28: Touched by the help extended by readers of daijiworld to 17-year-old Preema C Pinto, who was diagnosed with aorta arteritis, her parents have expressed gratitude and said they are extremely elated by the overwhelming response the appeal generated.
Daijiworld on April 11 had published an appeal for help for Preema C Pinto, a resident of Shaktinagar, who was in dire need of financial assistance to undergo life-saving heart surgery. It is learnt from the family that she has received as much as Rs 8.30 lac that has helped her seek treatment at a multi-specialty hospital in Bangalore.
Speaking to daijiworld, Preema's father Tony Pinto said, "The family had hardly imagined the overwhelming response that the appeal received after it was posted on the daijiworld charity page."
Growing emotional, he said, "We felt we were in left in a lurch, not being able to manage sufficient sum for Preema's treatment. The minute the appeal went online on daijiworld, help started to pour in from all quarters. I thank daijiworld for joining hands with the distressed family to support the good cause and specially the generous readers of daijiworld who supported and prayed for us when we were in such deep sadness."
The family prior to admitting Preema to Narayana Health (previously Narayana Hrudayalaya) Multi-specialty Hospital on April 28 will visit Velankanni Church to pray for success of the treatment, and also blessings to all those helped and prayed for us, he said, adding, "We hope the treatment would bring a back smile on my daughter’s face."
