Bangalore, Apr 28: In a heart-wrenching incident, seven persons belonging to a single family died after a car hit a parked truck at around 1.30 am on Sunday April 27. The incident occurred near Gopasandra, Krishnagiri near Hosur in Tamil Nadu.
Anand (50), working as assistant police sub-inspector at Pakayam station near Katpadi in Vellore district, Tamil Nadu, his wife, Uma (45), daughter, Sanjaya Gandhi (15), brother, Babu (46), Babu’s wife, Ramani (42) and son, Arun (14), apart from a distant relative named Murugan, died in the accident.
Shalini (20) and Preeti (7), daughters of Babu, Anand’s daughter, Aishwarya (15), Murgan’s son, Diwakar (4), and driver of the vehicle, Villu, suffered grievous injuries. They were admitted to the government hospital in Hosur. Reportedly, the condition of Diwakar was very critical.
The entourage of 12 persons, travelling in two vehicles, a Tavera and a Maruti Suzuki Swift, was moving to a temple in Bangalore from the direction of Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu when tragedy struck. Both the cars hit the stranded granite truck at high speed, resulting in death and injuries.
It is learnt that about an hour before this accident, two bike riders had perished after their two-wheeler was hit by a truck at Kamanadoddi, about 500 metres away from the spot of the current accident, killing Lokesh and Laxman from Kannalatti on the spot.
