Mangalore, Apr 27: Lolaksha, a resident of Konaje has filed a complaint against yoga guru Baba Ramdev in Konaje station here for his recent jibe at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi that the latter visits Dalit houses for 'honeymoon and picnic'.
In a three-page complaint Lolaksha contended that Baba had insulted the Dalit community by making such vicious and ill-founded remarks. "Ramdev seems to have taken the community for granted. He has deeply hurt the sentiments of Dalit women," stated the complaint.
Mentioning his reasons for filing the complaint against Ramdev, Lolaksha said that he belongs to the backward community and Ramdev's words had hurt him, and thus he filed a complaint in order to show his solidarity with the Dalit community across the nation. "The people of the community were insulted due to the skewed comments he uttered on Friday, following which all the media staunchly criticized the remarks," he said.
Quoting news reports as evidence, Lolaksha appealed to the police, "You (police) might have heard or watched his comments. You should immediately take action against him by taking him into your custody."
According to Lolaksha, Baba Ramdev intended to say that houses of Dalits were used by politicians of the country for honeymoon and picnic . "He has misled the people belonging to other sects and even insulted the Dalit women. He led the people to think that Dalits' houses are prostitute hubs," he said in the complaint.
"His remarks indirectly suggest that Dalit women are actively involved in flesh trade, which belittles the hard work the community puts in to succeed in the mainstream. His apology was just an attempt to veil his criminal intentions and escape the law," he stated.
"As Baba Ramdev is popular and has a sizable number of followers, he has the potential to influence them. Therefore, the police department should immediately arrest this man and send a strong message to the people," he urged in the complaint.
Lolaksha said that he has also discussed the issue with the Konaje circle inspector and the ACP.
