Mangalore, Apr 26: In a tragic incident, a 15-year-old girl lost her life while bathing in a river with her friends at Alagundi in Kadandale, Moodbidri near here on Saturday April 26.

Deeksha Safaliga, daughter of Ganesh Safaliga and Rekha Safaliga, residents of Inna, is the deceased.

She had got down into the river with her friends for a bath but slipped and fell. It is said that she was the first to get into the water and did not realize how deep the water level was.

Her friends screamed for help and brought elders to the spot, but she passed away by then.

Her father is said to be a tailor by profession.

Deeksha was a student of ninth standard and had come to her grandmother’s house for a religious programme. She had gone to the Shambavi river at Alagundi in the evening along with four of the neighborhood children.
