Mangalore, Apr 25: Which came first - the chicken or the egg? This dilemma has stumped philosophers and all of humanity since time immemorial, even leading to theories on beginning and evolution of life.
In an unusual incident reported at Pakshikere, a chick came out of the egg, without incubation by the hen.
In a telling sign of the increasingly sweltering weather, the egg hatched reportedly due to the heat.
The incident occured at Padmanabha Belchada near Jarandaya temple at Pakshikere. Being a rural area, people here have domesticated hens in their houses.
Their hen had laid about 25 eggs twice in the past Padmanabha had kept about 20-21 eggs in a plastic bag. The hen rarely sat on the eggs apparently due to the hot weather.
However, a chick has broken the shell and come out of the egg on its own. Two more chicks are also about to come out. It appears that natural heat was sufficient for the eggs to get incubated.
