Chennai, April 24 (IANS): Renowned Telugu writer Yandamuri Veerendranath, who has penned the dialogues and screenplay for "Anamika", southern remake of Hindi film "Kahaani", says the job at hand wasn't a cakewalk for him.
"We were not doing a frame-to-frame remake. Therefore, I was required to rewrite the screenplay and the dialogues because we weren't translating word by word and scene by scene. I have worked on so many films, but I never felt it so challenging to write," Yandamuri told IANS.
He says "Anamika" has superseded the original.
"We've added a social element which was not part of the original. This has made the remake even more exciting and I feel it will be better than 'Kahaani'," he added.
Directed by Sekhar Kammula, "Anamika" features Nayantara in the role originally played by Vidya Balan.
Also starring Pasupathy, Vaibhav Reddy and Harshvardhan Rane, the film is slated to release May 1 worldwide.
