Bangalore, Apr 23: JD(S) state president A Krishnappa passed away here on Wednesday April 23 after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was 65.
Krishnappa was rushed to a hospital in K R Puram after he suffered a cardiac arrest. However, he failed to respond to treatment.
He was the JD(S) candidate from Tumkur in this Lok Sabha elections.
A former minister and leader of backward classes, Krishnappa was appointed state JD(S) president in September 2013 after H D Kumaraswamy stepped down.
Krishnappa, who hailed from Hiriyur taluk of Chitradurga, was with Congress for nearly three decades before joining the JD(S) prior to the 2013 Assembly elections.
Krishnappa started his political career in 1985 as MLA of Varthur. He represented the constituency for four terms and served as minister for horticulture, animal husbandry, sugar and social welfare.
