Riyadh, April 21 (IANS): Five Indians working in Saudi Arabia were killed in a road accident near the country's capital Riyadh after their van overturned following a tyre burst, the media reported Monday.
The accident took place on the Taif-Riyadh expressway around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, emirates 24/7 reported, adding that two more people, one of whom was Indian, were seriously injured. All the victims were employees of a Dammam-based catering company.
The injured are undergoing treatment at the Abdul Aziz Hospital in Taif, 790 km from Riyadh.
Two of the victims have been reportedly closely associated with Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre, Saudi Arabia's prominent socio-cultural organisation of Indian muslims.
The deceased have been identified as Chandrachat Mohammed Nawas, 26, his relative Chandrachat Noushad, 26, Sridharan, 35, Mohammed Saleem, 32, and Janardanan, 45.
Chandrachat Nawas was driving the vehicle when the accident happened.
