Udupi, Apr 15: The annual Manipal International Film Festival (MIFF), organized by Manipal University (MU), will be held from Friday April 18 to Sunday April 20.

Media students from across the country along with students and faculty from all the 24 constituent colleges of MU will participate in this event. This is the third year that the festival is being held.

Still in its nascent years, MIFF strives to create a common platform to showcase some the greatest works of Indian and international cinema, leaving no genre or language go unnoticed.

Each year, the festival has evolved itself and tried to give its audience, a visual extravaganza of films ranging from documentary, contemporary, regional, parallel to contemporary and many more. It provides a dais for the marriage of all film passionate minds – students, budding enthusiasts, filmmakers, producers, directors, its humongous audience, actors and actresses…just one and all.

The three-day event will feature Bengali, Marathi, Malayalam, Tulu, and Kannada movies amongst others.  A few selected Bollywood movies as well as international films will be screened during the festival. 

Prominent filmmakers from across the country will be seen sharing their knowledge with the audience at the festival.

The speakers confirmed at the event are:

Girish Kasarvalli - seven-time national award winner;

Sumitra Bhave - six-time national award-winning Marathi filmmaker;
N Manu Chakravarthy -  jury member,  International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and well-known film critic, also a recipient of the ‘Swarna Kamal’;

Pawan Kumar - film critic and screen writer, director of Kannada movie ‘Lucia’;

Rajendra Talak - national award-winning (Konkani) film-maker from Goa;

P N Ramchandra - international and national award winning filmmaker;

Abhaya Simha - director of national award winning children's film 'Gubbachigalu';

Sukrutha Waghle - Lead actress, 'Jatta'

Kishore -  Lead actor, 'Jatta'

Rakshith Shetty- Lead actor and Director UlidavaruKandanthe (Kannada)

Yagna Shetty - Lead actress,UlidavaruKandanthe (Kannada)

Sunil Sukthankar - National Award winning Marathi Film Maker
