Mangalore, Apr 15: The district BJP on Tuesday April 15 wound up its campaign for the Lok Sabha elections with a rally led by candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel.
The rally was flagged off at Kudroli and passed through New Chitra Talkies, Car Street, GHS Road, Hampankatta, and culminated at the old bus stand where a public meeting was held.
Addressing the gathering, Nalin Kumar Kateel said, "We need a Congress-free India, and hence all should support BJP. Vote for BJP and make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister of India."
Waxing eloquent about BJP PM nominee Narendra Modi, he said, "In each and every corner of India we hear only one name - that of Modi. We don't need to give examples, everyone knows what he is. I have full faith that he will become the PM of India."
Drawing comparisons between former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Modi, he said, "Today Modi is ruling the same way Vajpayee used to rule. Vajpayee is a great personality and Modi is following in his footsteps."
He said that if BJP wins, it will stop Yettinahole river diversion and Niddodi power projects. "We will throw Congress out of India," he declared.
"Due to Congress rule, Mangalore has become a place for terrorists, but BJP will make it a tourist hub. Give me one more chance and I will make Mangalore a better place," he urged.
District president of BJP Pratap Simha said, "This is the last day for campaigning and the last election for Congress candidate Janardhan Poojary. Every person dreams of bringing about a change in the country and in the government system, and Modi is going to do that. Manmohan Singh did not have the freedom to sign even a single document; he needed Sonia Gandhi's permission. Even the officials who were with Manmohan Singh have revealed it. We are bringing Modi to bring a change in the country."
Former MLA Yogish Bhat said that since the past one year Congress has been 'warming the bench' and not doing any work, and that it won't do any in future too. "Many projects are yet to be completed but the Congress government has not released a single rupee for them," he added.
Rukmayya Poojary said, "April 17 is the day that will decide the fate of Congress. I request people to support BJP. Congress has indulged in a lot of corruption and spoiled the government machinery. God given resources which are meant for people have been exploited by the Congress. This time when I went around for campaigning people said they do not want to make the mistake of voting for Congress again.
We are not fighting for one man but for the country. Congress should cease to exist and never win any election in future."
Former minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said this election would change the future of India and give the country more security. "Reduction in taxes and control on inflation can be achieved only by the BJP. Congress is here only to increase prices and tax rates. Modi has love towards the country and the people. J P Hegde and Janardhan Poojary have criticized the BJP many times. What did they do for the country? Today areca farmers are facing problems, if Congress bans areca 5,000 people will suffer," he said.
Srikar Prabhu, N B Abubakker, Rajesh Nayak, Monappa Bhandary, Sulochana Bhat, Rajgopal Rai, G K Prabhu, Nagaraj Shetty, and Sharan Pumpwell were present.
