Hingoli (Maharashtra), April 15 (IANS): Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi Tuesday once again accused BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi of a "toffee model" of development, saying the government in Gujarat was giving land at Re.1 per square metre to industrialists - the same price as a toffee.
In a repetition of the accusations he made Monday, Gandhi said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) promoted "Gujarat model" that was actually a "toffee model", and the BJP was functioning on the "partnership of Adani and Modi".
"I call this the toffee development model. Land as huge as Mumbai was given away for Rs.30 crore in Gujarat," Gandhi said, addressing a rally in this Maharashtra town.
"A toffee comes for Re.1... But in Gujarat, land is given away for Re.1 per square metre. But this is not for the poor, it's only for Adani."
"BJP used to run on the partnership of (Atal Bihari) Vajpayee and (L.K.) Advani, now it runs on partnership of Modi and Adani," he said.
Hitting back at the Congress vice president again Tuesday, Modi said he lacks maturity brain and thinks like a child, thus keeping on talking about toffees.
