Mumbai, Apr 15: The youth wing of Billawa Jagruthi Balaga, one of the noted groups in Mumbai held its Youth Festival at the late Karnire Gulabi and late Narayana Salian stage of M Vishweshwaraya hall of Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai at Mahim West on Sunday, April 13.
In the contest held for Billawa girls, Latika J Ameen was crowned Miss Billawa, Deeksha Kotian was declared first runner-up and Sameeksha Kotian was declared the second runner-up.
The programme continued throughout the day and was presided over by Balaga president N T Poojary. Balaga founder president Sooru C Karkera lighted the lamp and N T Poojary set the programme in motionin a unique traditional way.
"The contribution of Billawas is necessary to make it united. A strong society is possible only with unity. So the people of the community should always work for progress. The protection of our generation is possible only with the protection of our community. The community can make it prosper. Let us then build a proud Billawa community," said Sooru C Karkera.
"The programme is a celebration of the achievement of the Billawas. We aim to build fraternity leading to unity in the community. Our elders have devoted themselves for the awareness of the community. Their guidance is our inspiration. The Balaga is performing its duty to guide the society on the path of justice and religion and the Balaga will struggle for the happiness and prosperity of the community," said president N T Poojary.
Billawa Jagruthi Balaga honorary president Suresh S Poojary, honorary chief secretary Keshava K Kotian, Vice president D B Ameen and Purushotham S Kotian, Treasurer Padmanabha Poojary, Women’s wing president Sharada S Karkera, former vice president K Bhojaraj and Balaga mouthpiece monthly magazine Guruthu editor Babu Shiva Poojary were present on the dais.
In the concluding ceremony chief guest, businessman Devadas N Suvarna and guest of honor social worker businessman Suresh Shetty Ballary and Bantara Sangha Mumbai joint secretary Ulthooru Mohandas Shetty and others presented awards to the winners in the competitions and
congratulated them.
Balaga office bearers from Chembur, Bhandup, Borivli and Dombivli and members, women and children presented entertainment programmes.
Dance Wave group’s Manoj Jadava and Vijaya Chavan cooperated as choreographers.
Girija Chandrashekar and Yashoda N Poojary led the prayer. Youth wing president Mahendra S Karkera welcomed. Shravya N Suvarna and Shipra N Suvarna presented a Bharathanatya.
Secretary J M Kotian, Keshava K Kotian and Harish G Poojary conducted the programme. Joint secretary Chitrapu K M Kotian proposed vote of thanks.
