Mangalore, Apr 14: In yet another haul, the officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Monday seized gold weighing 272.900 grams valued at Rs 8 lac.
The gold was seized from the passenger identified as Mohammed Jabir Baikkara (23), a resident of Thekkil, Kasargod.
The gold, concealed in the form of foil strips in a carton, was brought as checked-in baggage by Jabir. The seized gold is valued at Rs 8,02,326.
Jabir arrived at the airport on Monday at around 7.45 am by Jet Airways flight 9W531 from Dubai.
The operations were conducted under the supervision of Hemen Gogoi, deputy commissioner of customs, Mangalore International Airport by a team led by B Prabhakara Poojary, superintendent, along with superintendents Sendhil Murugan, B A Kariappa, H G Yogesh and inspectors G Kumaraswamy, S Ranjan Behera, Santosh Kumar and Ankit Kumar and havaldars Varadraju and Sowmya Naik.
