Salary delay and travel ban make housemaid to stab three kids

Dubai, Apr 14 (Emirates 247) : An Ethiopian housemaid waited for three Emirati children to go to bed and their parents to go out of the night before attacking them with a kitchen knife.

The maid first struck the 16-year-old daughter who screamed and fled to the bathroom, where she was later joined by her wounded brother and sister.

Police said the eldest daughter and her 11-year-old sister were seriously injured while their 14-year-old brother suffered from medium wounds.

After locking themselves in the bathroom at their house in Warqa area, the children called the police but did not give them their location during the brief phone call.

Police, quoted by Emarat Al Youm daily, said they managed to locate the house via the GPS system and sent a big force to storm the place.

The children were saved and taken to hospital while the maid tried to flee through the window with her passport but was caught.

“She told the police that she wanted to take revenge against the kid's parents because they delayed her salary and refused to let her travel home to see her family,” a police source said.

So she waited for an opportunity and when the parents were not at home, she attacked the children.

The maid has been referred to the Prosecution on charges of attempted murder.

Meanwhile, the children’s' father was quoted as saying that the maid who has been working for the family for a year-an-a-half had requested for leave to travel home, but the family had asked her to wait until the end of the current school year in July.
