Mangalore: AAP is here to change nature of politics: Yogendra Yadav

Mangalore, Apr 13: Member of Aam Aadmi national executive committee and AAP Lok Sabha candidate from Gurgaon Yogendra Yadav on Sunday April 13 visited the city as part of the party's campaign and said that AAP is here to provide an alternative to Congress and BJP and change the nature of politics.

Addressing a press meet at AAP district office here, he said, "I am in my favourite part of the country which not only has natural beauty but which also celebrates diversity. We are here to change the nature of politics. We get this opportunity for bringing about a systematic change only once in five years. AAP is here to provide an alternative in governance and a bring a change in the kind of politics we see today. That is systematic change."

Attacking both Congress and BJP, he said, "On the one hand there is the UPA-led Congress, which Rahul Gandhi is informally the face of. The UPA in the last 10 years completely discredited performance and created a record in corruption. They faultered in economic growth and growth of people. They played vote bank politics. Secularism of Congress has also been completely discredited. Rahul Gandhi has no credibility.

"On the other hand the BJP-led NDA is clearly led by Narendra Modi. BJP is no alternative because they provide the same kind of politics as Congress. In corruption also BJP is no different from Congress. This is quite evident in Karnataka after BJP reinducted Yeddyurappa and Sriramulu. BJP never offers development. The so-called Gujarat model is not really a model of development - it is a model of selective growth for small portion of the population where less attention is paid on education, healthcare, nutrition, and mortality rate is high. This is also no alternative. BJP or Gujarat model is particularly associated with majoritarianism which supports the idea of majority. This is against the basic foundation of the idea of India," he said.

"Every community, caste and religion has every right - that is what AAP believes in. The country needs an alternative in politics, not subsitution. AAP provides alternative and not subsitution. AAP emerged from the strong movement against corruption. It is also involved in the movement against political corruption and desire for political swaraj. AAP is bringing power back to the country and to the people not only through gram panchyats but also through gram sabhas. It believes in devolution of power through the lowest rank. AAP believes in protection of social justice and secularism. It has fielded 400 candidates throughout the country. Our efficacy is determined by the role we play. We need to change the rules of the game and change the foundation through alternative form of politics," Yadav said.

Reply to a query, Yogendra Yadav said, "Everyone should get equal rights, especially the minorities who suffer from vulnerability, as per Articles 25, 26 and 27 of the Constitution. Even in our manifesto we have emphasized on economic policy and foreign policy. In foreign policy we are against incursion. We believe maintaining friendly relations with other countries.

"We want India to be a multi-polar universe where the country attains growth," he added.

On AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal's battle against Narendra Modi in Varanasi, he said, "AAP workers are putting in all efforts to defeat Modi. It is not a symbolic fight but a serious effort to defeat Modi. AAP workers have been reaching out to all villages and mohallas. We want to be a viable alternative in politics."

Asked how many seats AAP expects to win, he said, "We are not concerned about numbers. We only need to make our presence felt."

AAP Dakhina Kannada candidate M R Vasudeva was present.

AAP party is definitely a hope for future generation and is going to remain in politics for long. I am glad to see a lot of intellectuals supporting the ideology of AAP. I am sure many sincere intellectuals from NDA and UPA will join AAP once it becomes stronger than it is right now.

Currently, tt is very very difficult for AAP to fight the NDA or UPA who are well seasoned in playing politics, having the experience of many many years of (dirty) politics.

Even if NDA comes to power this time at centre, there will be UPA and AAP to squeeze its nose all the time, if they do wrong things, which is a good sign.

Sooner or later aam aadmi has to take control of the governance of this country so as to eradicate the deep rooted corruption, work for the poor and make India a strong, developed and a respectable country in the world. JAI HIND.

In the present political scenario, it may be difficult for AAP to gain absolute majority in parliament. But definitely we will have a strong, viable, exuberant, non-corrupt opposition from newly elected honest, sincere, dedicated professionals and intellectuals from the AAP. The government will be constantly under keen observation and there will be no excuses for mis-governance or any shortcomings. So by supporting AAP we can hope better days are ahead for the country.

One thing is for sure. AAP has forced the mainstream parties to rethink their ways of functioning and introspect. It has forced them to come wiht more clean candidates and inclusive democracy. It is a good sign. Now AAP should focus to clean up the processes of indian democracy and politics by staying within the system and demonstrating their walk the talk RATHER than focusing on winning more seats and forming the govt. AAP will need 5 to 10 years to get the base to do that. Use this period to demonstrate how serious u are and practice what you preach. even gandhiji in inida took 5 years to become a mass leader.

Wilson Fernandes, mangalore - Yes, it is true. Especially after Mr. Michael's donation news on DW. They should have come much earlier, but it is still not too late. Because their strength lies in the ability to campaign door to door.

All we are looking for is clean politics. Hope MRV will win.

People think of Modi because when they say the country needs a strong PM they think he has that physical strength. But behind that bearded personality, there lies a fear – a fear of losing. I think if possible, Modi has to seriously try for a third constituency – just in case !

None of the parties have a road map for India. The future generation will find it very tough with the values they are learning from today's Politics.
AAP is promising a change, but they do not have a plan. The only solution for AAP and BJP is Bharath band. Congress was in power for so many years and it's not like they have done anything for the people either. We have to a two party system which will make Governing easier for the people who are in power and identifying the corrupt people even more easier.

For me 'common man' means not just poor or less educated or middle class or low middle class person.
Common man means a person living simple, just and corruption free life without hatredness. There is no limitation for his ambition or richness through his own hard work or intelligence.
There are plenty of good and able people amongst us but we do not come forward for various reasons, practical or impractical.
I really appreciate Mr Arvind Kejriwal who has come forward and shown wise and daring leadership for a change, the change we look forward.

B S Yeddyurappa was the most corrupt chief minister in the history of Karnataka and the only one to go to jail. As many as 13 ministers lost their positions. Yeddyurappa and team looted Rs 1 lac crore in illegal mining. Modi says telling that corruption is in the Congress' blood, but it is inborn in BJP. If it wins by majority, it is the best party to form a MAJORITY govt on its own. That is important for the nation. May God give us a sound and pro poor govt through AAP!

All AAP candidates are well educated and have an aim and definite goal in their Agenda to fight against the CORRUPTION in the country. AAP will learn to give a best governance and also make a all round development in the country, you see!

you are right. India can't afford to vote AAP or congress at this crucial stage. A strong political force with a clear cut majority at center is need of the hour to regain the lost glory. AAP is the best bet on local level, such as municipality / corporations/Panchayats and gradually to assembly level. There was already a big question mark on their ability to rule a small state like Delhi.
