Abu Dhabi, Apr 12: 'Yaadon ki Baarat' a musical event featuring yesteryear’s super hits made the evening memorable for all those present at India Social and Cultural Centre, Abu Dhabi on Thursday April 10.
The well organized event by Broadway Event Management in association with India Social and Cultural Centre (ISC), Abu Dhabi took the audience down memory lane, leaving them spellbound and yearning for more. The show, ably supported by a full-fledged live orchestra by talented musicians and famous singers not only paid tribute to the legendary Rajesh Khanna by presenting Kakaji’s journey through bolllywood with enchanting numbers but also evoked stupendous response from the audience with their beautiful rendition .
The event started around 8.30 pm. A brief inaugural ceremony was held with lighting of the lamp by guests of the evening - Sarvotham Shetty, president of Abu Dhabi Karnataka Sangha, Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld.com, the president and officer bearers of India Social and Cultural Centre (ISC), and Broadway representatives.
Rupert Vaz, well-known compere of Abu Dhabi initially introduced the theme of the event, and sang a Rajesh Khanna song.
The real flavour was added to the event when Prem Kumar, a well-known compere from the coastal district of DK took charge of the event with his 'shayaris' and with details of superstar Rajesh Khanna's works, which kept the audience on their toes throughout the event.
The bunch of talented singers included the versatile Anitha, Srikanth, Mohammed Haneef and Ranjan Das who blended their vocals to match the musical marvels of Bollywood playback singers like Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar and others. Their beautiful renditions turned the evening into a mesmerizing journey through the old and fond memories of the yesteryear’s hits. The enchanted crowd applauded each of the beautiful numbers, which included 'Tu ne o rangeele' by Anita, 'Roop tera mastana' by Ranjan, 'Kahi door jab' by Srikanth, 'Dilwale..' by Hanif and many other songs which kept the musical mood of the evening soaring. The lively compering by Prem Kumar with his ready wit and shayaris in Hindi not only captured the attention of the audience but also won their hearts. Music for the event was by Pappan and his team.
Young and talented junior band by Broadway, a group of budding music talents of Indian High School, Abu Dhabi added more charm to the event with their maiden rendition of 'Masoom' and 'Sun raha hai na tu' with a distinct style which evoked loud cheers of appreciation from the audience.
The contributors, patrons, singers and musicians of the event were honoured with mementos and souvenirs.
Broadway Event Management and ISC Centre Abu Dhabi left no stone unturned to make the event a successful and memorable one. It was indeed a journey through 'Yaadon ki Baarat'.
The packed audience thoroughly enjoyed the event which went on until midnight.
