Bangalore, Apr 9 : In an embarrassing situation for the Karnataka government, Azam, a rowdy sheeter who had appeared in rallies alongside state home minister K J George, information minister Roshan Baig and Bangalore Central Congress candidate Arshad Rizwan, was arrested by the police on Wednesday April 9 as a precautionary measure.
The BJP had earlier complained to the Election Commission that rowdy Azam who faces charges of loot, attempt to murder and murder, had shared the open canvass vehicle along with the ministers and the candidate.
Home minister K J George speaking to daijiworld rejected the BJP's allegation and said that he cannot identify the people in rallies or while canvasing as several people are involved in the events. Many people come without even being invited, he said.
Rizwan Arshad reacting to rowdy sheeter's involvement in canvassing said, "I am deeply hurt about this incident. Several people come for canvassing, I cannot ask them their names and background. But we have no such member in the Congress party. Even during our rallies and road shows people stop me, garland and wish me all the best. I cannot ask the identity of each and every person. I do not know who Azam is. May be the opposition members sent him purposely and complained to the Election Commission. But I have asked our party workers to be careful about such people."
