Mangalore, Apr 9: "Narendra Modi will not become the Prime Minister, and once again UPA will come to power. My prediction never goes wrong. This time Congress will secure 20 seats in Karnataka. If there is 90 percent voter turnout, Janardhana Poojary will win the elections by a margin of one lac votes," said former union minister CM Ibrahim.
He spoke while campaigning for B Janardhana Poojary, Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Dakshina Kannada constituency at a public meet at Kasba Bengre here on Wednesday April 9.
He also express confidence that BJP leaders Prahlad Joshi and Ananth Kumar will be defeated in the elections.
"We came here to urge you to donate your votes to us. Your donation will help us to govern for 5 years and serve the society. This is democracy. People rejected BJP in the previous elections. What did BJP do in Karnataka? Their leaders Yeddyurappa, Ananth Kumar, Sadananda Gowda and Jagadish Shetter have no face to show, hence they seek votes in Modi’s name," he added.
Lashing out further at BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Ibrahim said, "There is no ideology left in BJP. L K Advani, Muruli Manohar Joshi, Jaswant Singh and Sushma Swaraj are sidelined. Modi has got money. In Gujarat 800 farmers committed suicide. Today, Karnataka enjoys the second place in industrial development. What is Gujarat Model? About 55 percent of girls are suffering from malnutrition in Gujarat and being chief minister Modi gives reckless answer that it is because they are 'beauty conscious'. Gujarat is at the 11th place in income index. About 45 percent of children are suffering from malnutrition. Modi only knows to divide the society and instill fear. He is an autocrat. Do we want to create Gujarat in the whole of Hindustan?
"BJP is following a one-man army theory. Earlier there were good leaders in BJP. Today it is a hybrid BJP that we have which doesn’t know about Hinduisim. Earlier BJP leaders had love towards the nation, but presently the party speaks of only one man and corporates. Politicians should build houses for the poor and serve the society. They have been talking of Ram Mandir since the time of Vajpayee, but I guarantee that they will not build Ram Mandir," he said.
On the issue of Uniform Civil Code, he said law is same for all in India, but marriage rituals of Muslims and Christians are different. "Why should Modi worry about marriage rituals of others? It is left to them," he said.
"The Siddaramaiah government announced various development plans within half-an-hour of coming to power (in press meet). Siddaramaiah is providing good administration to the people of the state with support of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed their lives for the country. BJP could not even sack its MLAs when they watched blue film during Assembly session," he said.
K P Nanjundi also spoke on the occasion.
Deputy mayor Kavita, Shashidhar Hegde, Meryll Rego, M Farook, Saritha Bengre and others were present.
