'Bhakta Kannappa' not a mythological film: Sunil Varma

Chennai, April 9 (IANS): Actor Sunil Varma, who will soon start filming for upcoming Telugu movie "Bhakta Kannappa", says it is not based on mythology but is a tribal love story coupled with element of entertainment.

"Bhakta Kannappa" is the true story of an avid Lord Shiva devotee. Two classics have been made so far with the same title.

"Although the title of my film is inspired from the classic, ours is not a mythological story. I play a tribal character and it's a love story that unfolds against a rural backdrop. Director Bharani has promised to make it as entertaining as possible for satisfy my fans," Sunil told IANS.

To be directed by actor-filmmaker Tanikella Bharani, "Bhakta Kannappa" is expected to go on floors in the second week of May.

Meanwhile, Sunil is all set to start working on two more projects.

"Ever since I became a hero, the number of films I do have drastically dropped. Now, it's even tough to finish one film a year. But in 2014, I want to do more films. I have two new projects ready to go on floors. One of these projects will be with director Vicky and the other with writer Gopi Mohan, who will direct it," he added.

Sunil had been a successful comedian for nearly a decade in Telugu filmdom. He turned hero with S.S Rajamouli-directed "Maryada Ramanna" in 2010.
