Mangalore: Here comes the rain! City gets welcome respite from heat

Mangalore, Apr 8: After days of sweltering heat, people in the city were in for a pleasant surprise as clouds finally opened up and cooled the earth with refreshing rain on Tuesday April 8 evening.

Though the increasing temperature over the last few days had the city hoping for rain, it caught everyone by surprise when the skies darkened and it started pouring all of a sudden.

People, especially students and office-goes were seen rushing for cover as the rain gained momentum. There were people who welcomed the rain with open arms, soaking in the cool raindrops and simply cherishing the moment.

The most enjoyable part was probably the strong and cool winds that accompanied the rain. Much before the rain came in full force, the trees swayed in the breeze, as if dancing with joy. There was thunder and lightning too, which, so to speak, added the sound and light effects to the dancing trees!

The first rains this summer brought temperatures down to some extent. It also rained in other places like Puttur and Bantwal. At the time, as soon as it started raining, the power supply went off in most parts of the city.

Nevertheless, as long as it lasted, the rain was indeed refreshing, as it not only brought the much-needed respite from the seething heat, but gave new colour and fresh life to the parched earth and trees. Now all that people wish is - Rain, rain, come again!

Wow ! The surrounding looks so lovely & soothing. DK (especially M'lore) got badly needed relief from the sweltering heat and humidity. If it was a week-end day, there would have been added fun & excitement in life.
Good luck to all my fellow Mangalorians.

If you go by the photographs you will be left with some doubts like whether the female population in mangalore is considerably larger than male, whether mostly women are susceptible to get drenched by rain, whether drenched women have power to attract the camera lense towards them!!

btw, I am not coming to India for good, however, I would like to tell you that I always had job even when I was in India, thanks to Late Rajiv Gandhi's idea to bring computing technology to India. Thanks to Mr Moily because of whom I could procure a free engineering seat in CET. Western countries are now worried that India may go 20 years back if communal forces come to power. God save my country
