Mangalore: JD(S) backing SDPI, fighting elections on principles - M B Sadashiva

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SHS)

Mangalore, Apr 7: The district JD(S) on Monday April 7 said that it would toil hard in backing SDPI candidate Mohammed Haneef Khan and push him to win the MP seat from Dakshina Kannada constituency, with the sole aim of battling down key national parties in the district.

District president of JD(S) M B Sadashiva in joint press meet convened by the JD(S) and the SDPI here at Janata Deluxe hall said his party on the directions of the high command is extending  unconditional support to Haneef.

"The decision was taken with the aim o defeat UPA that has been sinking in scams and allegations, failing to fulfil the aspirations of the citizens of the nation. At the same time, we are all set to give tough days ahead for the communal force BJP that chants divisive politics to come to power," he said.

"This time in the parliamentary elections party supremo Deve Gowda will play a pivotal role during the formation of the government which would be led by the Third front. In the district, the party considering the strength of the SDPI has decided to sacrifice its candidate for Haneef. Both the parties are confident of wining the elections defying all odds. People of the district are desperate, searching for an alternative party that can fulfil their aspirations. So people will vote for JD(S)-backed SDPI to shun Nalin Kumar Kateel and B Janardhana Poojary in the elections," he said.

When press persons asked about allegations that SDPI candidate was being backed by Harsha Moily to spoil the chances of his political rival Janardhan Poojary, Sadashiva said such questions should be thrown at the Congress party, as 'they would know the reality better than JD(S)'.

"However, SDPI has its own strength in the district. It does not need Moily to back up to spoil Congress’ fortunes. Moreover, Haneef will win the race in the constituency. We are fighting elections on principles and ideologies laid by the party at the time of its birth," he said.

However, on the sidelines of the press meet M B Sadashiva confirmed to daijiworld that Haneef was backed by Moily, and it was 'unfortunate'. "We have no other option but to follow the instructions of the high command," he asserted.

Aboobakkar Kulai, district president of SDPI said the party was stepping up the campaign taking all the grassroots level party workers into consideration. Several rounds of campaign have been completed, with leaders visiting most of the taluks and every corner of the villages, he said.

“In response to our campaign people have expressed solidarity saying they would vote for SDPI to see changes in terms of development in the district," he added.

JDS has been spending crores to win 1 seat from DK, but forget winning, their candidate is not even giving tough competition to Congress & BJP. Now JDS is struggling for survival of party in DK & left with no option than supporting some regional party.
No use guys... you people join either Congress or BJP, if you are concerned about your political career. Winning a seat is not your cup of tea. Just wasting time for spoiling 2000-3000 votes.

This is utopian dream and impracticable approach. SDPI fails to learn lesson from their previous unsuccessful attempt in in the Mangalore assembly election. It is irony that knowingly both secular and minority votes will be polarized and eventually cause BJP win whom they consider their worst rival. To justify their suicidal decision to contest from this crucial constituency, they always mention about late Kanshi Ram the founder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) who had worked very hard for the political uplifting Dalits. SDPI lacks the support from minorities unlike Dalit supports to BSP.

From all these dramas of political parties, that too during election time, one thing is clear that they are worried only about their winning not bothered or talking about the prosperity of the nation.Their old mind set has not been rectified yet. What a funny? Even at this age, they are talking about the old stories and talk instead of transferring the responsibility to the younger generation. In fact they are the one,who leads the nation to the greater height.Selfish people. They were in politics throughout their life, what they did for the country except is accumulating wealth of their own.Shameless people.

This alliance will help to strengthen SDPI in future courses. Last assembly election SDPI come second in Narasimharaja constituency if they go by same alliance there will be a good alternative for Non-BJP voters if Congress fail to deliver in the state. It is time to strengthen secular party alternative to Congress so that in case congress fail, then to stop the BJP coming to power.

JD(S) has a bright chance of winning from Hassan & Tumkur seats...If there is polarised voting in Mandya & Chikkabalapur, DG & Son stand a good chance of coming first..bUt in Mangalore by tying up with SDPI, a known extremist communal organization, outlawed several times, JD(S) is fishing in troubled waters. By whipping up communal frenzy amongst minorities & other casteist people, SDPI is communalising the electorate. JD(S) has lot of explaining to do here....In all, SDPI may end up being huge vote cutter for Congress

Because of opportunistic politics JDs lost golden opportunity to become a third alternative in Karnataka and become irrelevant now.First, they exposed themselves by joining BJP for power then they lost goodwill of Christians by admitting Church attack mastermind Mahendra kumar. Now by joining another outfit whose job is nothing but helping BJP by splitting secular votes.
