Mangalore, Apr 6: The play 'Kumsaracho Ghut' (Seal of Confession) was presented by Catholic Sabha of Rosario Church at the Rosario Church grounds here on Sunday April 6 to spread awareness on the season of Lent and how people should observe it, and to support an educational fund.
Addressing the gathering, Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza said, "A priest should never reveal the secrets of any peron's confession, it should be a kept secret, no matter what.
"When we hear the title of the play 'Kumsaracho Ghut' we know what exactly it is about. We can gain God's love and blessings through two Sacraments, Holy Communion and Confession. Confession clears all your sins, it cleanses your soul," he said.
"We fall sometimes, and to get up we need strength and God gives us that strength. We have to love God and grow closer to Him."
Fr J B Crasta, parish priest of Rosario briefed about the preparations that went into the play, the selection of the artistes, adjusting sounds, creating publicity and making it attractive for the audience.
"This play is being presented to give more importance to the practice of confession and stress on its positives. Everyone should watch this play and enjoy it. Confession should become a part of our life," said Fr J B Crasta.
Catholic Sabha president Antony D'Silva welcomed the guests and a floral welcome was given to the bishop and to the donors.
Prescilla Sequeira compered the ceremony, while Michael Monteiro compered the programme.
'Kumsaracho Ghut' play is written by Fr Francis R D'Souza and directed by John M Permannur.
'Kumsaracho Ghut' means 'Seal of Confession'. In the Roman Catholic Church, the Seal of Confession (or Seal of the Confessional) is the absolute duty of priests not to disclose anything that they learn from penitents during the course of the Sacrament of Penance.
