Mumbai, Apr 5: Kanatavara Kannada Sangha has selected well known drama artiste Sukumar Mohan for the annual Suvarna Ranga Samman national award given away in memory of dramatist Sadananda Suvarna this year.
Sukumar Mohan has converted his hometown of Mudradi near Karkal as the town of dramatics and has brought all the members of his family into dramas making his house as the house of dramatics.
He excelled in the fields of acting and direction and won several presents and awards. He has presented Kannada and Tulu artworks such as 'Siri Sampige', 'Sahebaru Baruthare', 'Huliya Neralu', 'Vali', 'Dangeya Munchina Dinagalu', 'Na Tukarama Alla', 'Pilipathi Gadas', 'Kalapurada Kilesi', etc.
He finds joy in creating two dramas in a year inviting well known troupes for his dramas. Though Hyderabad's Surabhi Drama troupe had not invited any other drama troupe in their 150 years of history, they have invited Namme Tuluver drama troupe and given an opportunity for the presentation.
Pilipatthi Gadas by D K Chowta directed by Sukumar Mohan was performed 160 times. He is a strong personality setting foot based on ideals and reality. He presents extraordinary excellence on the stage.
The award was presented to him recently at Kantavara Sangha. Sangha president and well known poet Dr N Mogasale presented the award. Moodbidri Vardhamana Peetha president C K Padiwal was present.
