Death sentence to three Shakti Mills gang rapists

Mumbai, Apr 4 (IANS): A court here Friday sentenced three people to death for gang raping a photo-journalist in a repeat offence in the Shakti Mills complex here last August.

Vijay Jadhav (18), Qasim Hafiz Sheikh, alias Qasim Bengali (20), and Salim Ansari (27) were Thursday also convicted for gang raping a call centre employee in the same premises barely three weeks earlier on July 31 last year.

Principal Sessions Judge Shalini Phansalkar-Joshi delivered the much-awaited judgment in the case, sentencing the three to death penalty for repeated offences of gang rape - committed July 31 and Aug 22, 2013, said Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

    Very Happy to hear some prompt and appropriate action was taken. India has finally woken up. It is sad people with power and money like Shiney Ahuja (who had confessed to his crime, had neighbours as witnesses and DNAs which nailed his crime)He used the maid,manipulated the DNA records and changed his statement 3 times. He first admitted to the rape in detail,and the DNA matched. then said it was by mutual consent. Then changed the DNA records and denied everything. SHINEY AHUJA should be tried for rape.

    These Rapists are repeated convicts, held for the same crime just 22 days back.
    Real devils, living to destroy the lives in civil society.
    They should have been sent to gallows much earlier!
    Landmark judgement, may be for the first time, quite quick conviction of criminals.
    Hope to have similar kind of convictions for all major crimes in our Country.
