New Delhi, Jun 12: On the occasion of the anti child labour day on Monday, CNN-IBN met two young filmmakers, who have captured the agonies of child labour in their film.
Sudhir and Meenakshi are two young filmmakers who identify and empathise with children as old as themselves. "I have seen boys as old as me working in harsh conditions," says cameraperson, Sudhir.
"When I was writing about them, I realised I was writing about my own problems," feels scriptwriter, Meenakshi.
Last year, while shooting a film on children in the carpet factories of Uttar Pradesh, Sudhir made a friend. "I met Irshad. He was my age. Our dreams are similar; we are the same," he says.
Meenakshi too shares her experience when she toured a bangle factory in Ferozabad. "I saw young boys working in factories that had a very high temperature. And they were working without gloves. It was very hot and I could not even stand there for a few minutes. Whereas they work there for days," she reflects.
The duo's film is made of these bittersweet experiences. "I want kids like me to come up and understand their own problems and take up issues," says Sudhir.
The film has brought several youngsters together and has also strengthened their resolve to make more such films and friends.
