Kundapur: Youth from Chikkaballapur drowns at Kodi beach

Kundapur, Apr 4: A native of Chikkaballapur drowned while swimming at Halavalli, Kodi beach late evening on Thursday April 3.

The deceased has been identified as Munishama Reddy (27), son of Narayan Swamy, a resident of Seegehalli, Kothanur, Chikkaballapur.

His body was recovered on Friday April 4 evening at Halavalli after much effort by police and rescue teams.

As per the complaint filed by Gopi, Munishama along with four other friends, Bharath, Santhosh, Venkatesh and Gopinath had gone to Kodi beach on Thursday evening. Santhosh is a native of Kumbashi while others are from Bangalore.

Munishama, Bharath and Venkatesh went for a swim in Halavalli at Kodi beach. Among them Munishama got pulled in by the strong currents. Though a search operation was launched, he could not be found till Friday evening.

Munishama was working as a tower technician in a company called Tejasivini, based in Malleshwaram, Bangalore.

All four had come on work to Udupi district 20 days ago. On Thursday they finished their work at Kumbashi after which they left for Kodi beach.

A case has been registered in Kundapur police station.

Kundapur police and locals helped in the search operation.

    RIP. Those who do not know proper swimming must tie old tyre to thier body. Else they should be careful or should not swimm in deep waters.

    Repeating this every time. People who do not have the proper skill of swimming in sea water should avoid getting so far in water to impress their friends or viewers will cost their life. Please try to realize the truth before getting in to act.
