Su-Kam wins solar power project for 40,000 UP rural homes

New Delhi, April 3 (IANS): Leading power back-up solutions provider Su-Kam Thursday said it has won a large-scale rural electrification project to install and commission solar power systems in 40,000 rural households in Uttar Pradesh.

"The company has bagged this first-of-its-kind solar project after winning a tender from Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), which has been assigned this project under the 'Lohia Awas Project' by the UP government," Su-Kam said in a statement here.

The project involves installing solar photovoltaic (PV) power packs comprising three LED lights, one 25W ceiling fan and a solar charge controller with mobile charging point in each of the 40,000 rural homes over a period of one year.

Su-Kam said it has already finished installation in first set of seven homes in Shahpur Majgaon village in Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh.
