Puttur, Apr 2: Ramanath Rai who was heavily criticized by BJP leaders for posing a challenge regarding Nalin Kumar Katil raising questions in the Parliament, has now sharply reacted to the BJP's taunt 'Ramanath Rai is known for sleeping during the Assembly session'.
The district BJP president Pratap Simha Nayak had said that if there was a single Assembly session where Ramanath Rai has not slept, he would retire from politics. On Tuesday April 1, BJP leader Ananth Kumar demanded public apology and resignation from Rai.
"I never sleep in the Assembly. I participate fully and actively in the session; sometimes after lunch I close my eyes for some moments, but that should not be mistaken for sleep. I neither sleep in the assembly, nor do I watch blue film during the assembly session unlike some BJP minister and MLAs," he said, taunting back at the BJP over the infamous blue film episode where three ministers of the then ruling BJP were caught watching porn during the Assembly session.
He was speaking during an election meet in Puttur.
"I am very proud of my achievements as forest minister and the development works done as minister and MLA during my political career," he said.
"Nalin Kumar only talks of bringing central grant to district, he is not capable of anything other than that. Let him show what projects or development he has brought to district. Janaradhan Poojary, despite not being an MP in the past few years has brought pro-people programmes to the district, so this time people will surely vote for him," he said.
