Bangalore, Mar 29: In a letter of request to print and electronic media on Friday March 28, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa urged media persons not to call him 'corrupt' on television, newspapers and online news.
In the letter, he stated that according to the law of the land, a person is innocent until proven guilty, hence he should be considered an innocent. Though he faces charges of corruption, the court has not declared him guilty, he stated in the three-page long letter to the media.
Conspiracy by vested interests
He also stated in the letter that during his tenure as the CM of Karnataka, a 'conspiracy' was hatched to level all kinds of false allegations against him, with the ulterior motive to deflate his popularity and make him resign as the CM. "These tactics were played by my political detractors," he alleged.
"I have given good administration, even implementing people-friendly projects in the state. Due to my efforts Karnataka had then emerged as the second best state in the country in terms of developmental," he said.
"It is unfortunate that I lost the stature that I had achieved through my hard work, service and sacrifice over a period of four year, only because of the conspiracy hatched by some vested interests. I am strong and have not lost the battle, I am confident of emerging clean ultimately."
He further stated, "The court has given me relief in most of the cases. Currently a few cases are pending against me. I have a strong faith that I will be relieved from all the pending cases."
He requested the media not to brand him as corrupt politician. "If panellists, particularly my detractors call me corrupt, journalists cannot help it. But please ask your reporters and anchors not to call me corrupt," he appealed.
