Bangalore, Mar 29: A realtor living in Talaghattapura in the city killed his wife and two children by injecting them with poisonous substance, before hanging himself. It has transpired that he has left a will through which his property has been bequeathed to the daughter of his elder brother.
Kaushik Puneeth Sharma (40), living at Vakeel Garden near Talaghattapura, his wife, Shreeltha (36), son, Kaustubh (9), and daughter, Sreeraksha (11) were found dead inside their home. After injecting poison to his family members, Kaushik had hanged himself from the grills of the stairs in his home, the policemen said.
Kaushik, who hailed from Udupi, had settled down in USA for several years, before shifting residence to the city three years back. Kaustubh and Sreeraksha were third and fourth standard students of a nearby school. Kaushik, who was doing real estate business, is said to have acquired 200 acres of land near Kollegal recently, apart from three house sites near his house. On Thursday night, he called his niece, Sumegha, asking her to visit his home at 10.30 am on Friday to receive a gift box. He told her that he and his family were going away, before abruptly ending the call.
Sumegha reached her uncle’s home at 10 am on Friday. The security guard called the family over intercom to get permission to allow her inside, but the calls went unanswered. Then both Sumegha and the security guard went near the home and peeped through the window, to find that the children were lying on the floor.
The information was then passed on to Talaghattapura police station. The police broke open the doors of the house and found the bodies of Kaushik’s wife and children in the bedroom. An injection syringe was found by their side. The police also found the body of Kaushik hanging from a noose.
In a death note that he left behind, Kaushik said no one was responsible for these deaths. However, he has alleged that a police officer named Reddy from city crime station in Hyderabad had usurped his money, gold ornaments, and house sites. He also has written on walls of his home with blood, the words AP Police Reddy, CCS Hyderabad, Our Money, Gold, and Site. His will leaving behind his belongings to niece was also recovered from the spot, the police personnel said.
It is said that some miscreants had attacked Kaushik about a week back. They had abducted him, and allowed him to go after beating him up and posing death threats. It is also gathered that these goons followed Kaushik’s car closely in another vehicle, whenever he ventured out. This development reportedly had give rise to a sense of dejection and depression in Kaushik.
