Mangalore/Udupi, Mar 28: Temperature in the coastal region is about to rise, and we are not talking of the weather alone. The battle for the Lok Sabha elections is about get hotter here, with two political stalwarts, rivals in fact, scheduled to address public rallies in Mangalore and Udupi.
While AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi will visit Mangalore on April 4, BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will visit Udupi in the second week of April.
Addressing a press meet on Friday March 28, district incharge minister Ramanath Rai said that more details about Rahul Gandhi's visit will be disclosed in the coming days. Congress Lok Sabha candidate Janardhan Poojary along with several ministers, MLAs and state-level leaders are expected to participate.
Meanwhile, enthusiasm is at an all time high in the BJP camp in Udupi and hectic preparations are on to welcome Modi, for a second time in the coastal region after his visit to Mangalore in February this year. Though the date has not been announced yet, he is expected to visit sometime in the second week of April.
Modi will address a 'Vijay Bharath' rally at MGM College grounds in Udupi.
BJP leaders like B S Yeddiyurappa, Jagadish Shettar, D V Sadananda Gowda, Ananth Kumar, Shobha Karandlaje and many others along with local leaders will be participating in the rally.
BJP district president Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde said that around one lac people are expected to attend the rally.
