Mumbai, Mar 26: Mahabala B Suvarna, with his spouse and two children boarded Matsyagandha Express train no 12619 to Mangalore from Lokamanya Thilak terminus in Kurla West, Mumbai, to attend a relative’s marriage on Friday March 21.

They had a few gold ornaments with them and were to alight in Mulky the next morning. They got down at their station as did three other youth who were strangers.

When Suvarna reached his native Siddakatte and checked his luggage, gold ornaments worth Rs 3.5 lac were found missing from their bag. The couple rushed to Mulky to register the complaint, but as the inspector rejected their complaint, they were forced to give a complaint in Udupi. But as their search and the complaint has gone in vain, the couple are now in Mumbai, empty-handed.

Passengers travelling with gold, silver, cash and other valuables need to learn a lesson from this incident. It is our duty to safeguard and keep an eye over our belongings.

As this is election season, if u are carrying a lot of currency, keep proof of it at all times during the journey. Lots of such instances have taken place in Nippani-Koggunahalli on the Karnataka-Maharasthra border.
