Qatar, Jun 8: Out-going membership secretary Norbert Corda was unanimously elected as the new president of Mangalore Cricket Club during the Annual General Body (AGN) meeting of the Mangalore Cricket Club, which was held at the Ashoka Hall of Indian Cultural Center on Friday June 2. About 100 members gathered along with their families to elect the new executive committee.
ICC vice-president Rocky Fernandes officiated the elections. The following members were unanimously elected for the new executive committee:
Vice-president - Walter Dantis
General Secretary - Dephny Lobo
Joint Secretary - Riana Pinto
Cultural Secretary - Alwyn D'Souza
Sports Secretary - Ernest Cutinho
Treasurer - Ronald Saldanha
The members of committee include Sunil D’Silva as newsletter editor, Prakash Noronha as membership secretary, Rocky Fernandes as public relations officer, David D’Souza as head of volunteers, Divya Noronha as webmaster, Jerald D’Mello and Richard D’Souza as advisors. The subcommittee includes Violet Veigas and Patrick Jerald D’Souza as joint sports secretaries, Gladys D’Silva as joint cultural secretary and Lawrence Sequeira as joint head of volunteers.
Outgoing president Richard D’Souza, who was instrumental in shaping the success of the club during the past two years, thanked all for their encouragement and support.
All the outgoing office bearers thanked the committee and the members for their consistent support during their tenure.
President Norbert Corda thanked the members for the opportunity he was given and vowed to continue with the legacy of past presidents. As membership secretary, Corda was successful in bringing in 70 new members to the club during his tenure of two years.
Oliver Pereira conducted the meeting as the master of ceremonies. Riana Pinto opened the meeting with a thanksgiving prayer. Outgoing vice-president Sunil D’Silva welcomed the guests. Timothy Veigas presented the financial report for the past year and Prakash Noronha presented the general report. Eddie Sequeira proposed the vote of thanks. Walter Dantis conducted the variety cultural programme which was followed by sumptuous lunch from Hotel Prestige.
