Mumbai, Mar 22 (Mid-day): The police yesterday arrested a 45-year-old man for repeatedly raping his 15-year-old daughter after threatening her that he would kill himself if she resisted him. According to the Dindoshi police officials, the accused left his first wife with whom he had a daughter but, while separating, he kept the girl’s custody. He went on to marry another woman with whom he had two children.

A few weeks ago, his second wife went away for a few days to meet her relative, and he was alone with his daughter in the house. One day, he came home completely inebriated and forced himself on her, cops said. The girl resisted his assault and told him she would tell her mother, but he threatened her that if she did, he would commit suicide and leave her orphaned, said the police. Then he went on to sexually assault her, and the teenager kept it to herself. After this, he allegedly raped her a few more times. When the girl’s condition deteriorated, her mother took her home with her, and she later confided everything to her. The duo then went to Dindoshi police station. “We arrested the accused on Friday and booked him for rape,” said a police officer.
