- Special Sessions judge keen to proceed with perjury trial says no more extensions will be granted to the liars
Mumbai, Jun 7: Zaheera Shaikh's advocate Umesh Deshpande came to Bombay High court where Zaheera's appeal against the perjury trial going on at Mazgaon's Sessions court was to be heard by justice D B Bhosle.
The case was adjourned to June 19 by the High court as the appeal against the perjury trial also means that the entire judgment in the Best Bakery trial was challenged as the two could not be separated.
After the court adjourned the case advocate Deshpande went to Mazgaon court where judge Abhay Thipsay was to proceed with the perjury trial. He told the court that the High court had adjourned the appeal till June 19 and as such the trial before the Sessions court may also be adjourned. However, the judge was reluctant to grant anymore extension adjourned the trial only till Tuesday afternoon.
Deshpande said that he had to rush to the High court again seeking early hearing of the appeal and directions to the trial court to stay the perjury proceedings. The court granted Deshpande a hearing in the morning section on Monday. After the hearing in High court, the perjury trial will come up before the Sessions judge.
