Panaji, Mar 16: Konkani writer Paul Moras from Mangalore has been awarded the ‘Madhav Manjunath Shanbhague Konkani Bhasha Seva Puraskar – 2013’ by the Goa Konkani Akademi. The award includes Rs 25,000 in cash, a citation and shawl. It will be bestowed on him during an award ceremony which will be held on March 21, at 5 pm at the Black Box, Kala Akademi, Campal, Panaji.
 
“Geeta Dharmarajan, convenor, Katha, and president, Central Bal Bhavan, will be the chief guest and B. Vijayan, chief secretary, Government of Goa, will preside,” said Pundalik Naik, president, Goa Akademi, in a press release.

Several other awards will be given on the occasion. The awardees include Gopinath Gawas for his poetry collection ‘Gole Gole’, Ajay Buva for his short story collection ‘Bhanvri Radhika’, Dr Ravansiddh Naik for his play ‘Maharati Karna’, Guadalupe Dias for her essays ‘Jvalamukhi’, Prakash Parienkar for his research works ‘Mhaday - Kalzantlyan Kagdar’, and Vincy Quadros for his work in children’s literature ‘Porsum’.
 
Dr L Sunitabai will be given the award meant for non-Goan authors for her book of poetry ‘Shankhnad’.
 
Fr Louis Gomes and  Anwesha Singbal have been chosen for the ‘Yuva Chaitanya Puraskar’ while Mahabaleshwar Sail will be awarded with the ‘Sahitya Pratibha Puraskar’. The ‘Sahitya Prajna Puraskar’ will be given to Suresh Amonkar while the ‘Shenoi Goembab Konkani Bhasha Seva Puraskar’ will be given to Manikrao Gavnekar, and Konkani Seva Samstha Puraskar Kerala Konkani Akademi, Cochin.
