Dubai, Mar 12: 'Dhwani' known for unique Kannada programs among Kannadiga’s celebrated the 100th birth year of one of the proudest sons of Karnataka Kayyara Kinnanna Rai by conducting a Kavigoshti at Quick Bite restaurant in Dubai recently.
The octogenarian kannada activist was living and breathing Kannada and tulu languages throughout his life. He firmly believed that injustice was done to Karnataka as well as to Kasargod by including Kasargod in Kerala State. He has protested his life for this cause but his voice was not heard at the government levels.
The Kavi Goshti was attended by Iranna Mulimani, Arshad Hussain, Irshad Moodabidri, Gopinath Rao, Madhusudan and Prakash Rao Payyar presided over. Ganesh Rai narrated beautifully the life and literature of Kayaara Kinnanna Rai and also the efforts put in by him to hold the Kannada flag high during his active days from his youthin the 1920s to as recently as year 2010.
A programme was also arranged to honour Madhusudan and Jayashree Madhusudan who are planning to return to Karnataka after decades of residence here in UAE. Madhusudan was the secretary of 'Dhwani' for the last six years and he had meticulously planned each and every program organised by dhwani prathisthaana during this period. A soft spoken person, he would take everyone along and plan programmes in a beautiful manner that other members loved to work with him.
James Mendonca of Reliable Fabricators, Sathish Venkataramana of Chillywilly and Herman Lewis of Radio spice were the chief guests for the felicitation program. Vinay Kumar Naik read out the letter of honour. Madhusudhan and Jayashree Madhusudan was honoured with Peta, Shawl, Fruits, Momentoes and a citation.
The program was attended by office bearers of various associations, other dignitaries and stage artistes. Everyone who spoke complemented Madhusudan for his calm and composed nature and wished him good health and prosperity.
The program started off with prayers by Sonia Gutham. Prakash Rao Payyar welcomed the guests. Sudarshan Hegde compered the program and Jayanth Shetty proposed vote of thanks, Padmaraj Yekkar, Ganesh Kulal, Sampath Shetty, Santosh Poojary, Sadan Das and others assisted.
