Women’s wing of Buntara Sangha exults on International Women’s Day

Mumbai, Mar 10: The women’s wing of Buntara Sangha Mumbai had organized a programme on the occasion of International Women’s Day in an environment of celebration and enthusiasm on Saturday March 8 at Srimati Radhabai T Bhandari Auditorium of Buntara Bhavan here.

The function, presided over by working president of the wing, Lata Prabhakar Shetty, was inaugurated by Shankar B Shetty, by lighting the lamp. Baby Prithvika R Shetty gave official start to the function. Director of Symbiosis Law Institute, Pune, Dr Shashikala Gurpur, participated as chief guest.

A symposium on ‘women – yesterday and tomorrow’ had been arranged on the occasion. Well-known social worker and dramatist, Prabha Kodu Bhoja Shetty, presided over the symposium. Renowned gynaecologist from the city, Dr Sangeeta S Shetty, delivered a talk on ‘mental state and medical view’ while advocate of Mumbai high court, Chandrakala U Shetty, spoke on ‘woman in the eyes of law’.  Life coach trainer and consultant, Lata V Shenava, gave information on ‘social service, empowerment, and safety’. Later, the dignitaries participated in a programme of exchange of view with  the women participants.

Former working presidents of the unit, Sarojini B Shetty, Lata P Bhandary, Sujaya R Shetty, and Asha M Hegde, wives of former presidents of the Sangha, Ratna R C Shetty, Shanta Sudhakar Shetty, Vinoda Bhujanga Shetty, Shashi Manmohan Shetty, Rama Vivek Shetty, Rajani Sudhakar Hegde, Shakila Padmanabh Shetty, and Chandrika Harish Shetty, wife of the current president, Shobha Shankar Shetty, Dr Suneeta M Shetty, Bombay Bunts Association women’s wing working president, Asha S Shetty, Thane Bunts Association women’s wing working president, Aarati Y Shetty, working president of Mulund Bunts Association, Satya S Shetty, Vikhroli Bunts Association women’s wing president, Ramya U Shetty, manager of the Sangha, Praveen Shetty’s family, and donors and families of employees were feted on the occasion.

Honorary secretary of women’s wing, Chitra R Shetty, joint treasurer, Kalpana K Shetty, and other office bearers were present. A cultural festival rich with dances and other programmes was presented by members of women’s wing and other regional committees. Roopa S Shetty and Roopa Y Shetty hosted the cultural programmes. A documentary on the activities of women’s wing was also exhibited on the occasion.

Joint secretary, Vinoda R K Chowta, rendered prayer. Deputy working president of women’s wing, Lata J Shetty, welcomed. Honorary secretary, Chitra R Shetty, and honorary treasurer,  Asha V Rai, introduced the guests and donors. Office bearers of the wing honoured the guests by handing them bouquets. Roopa S Shetty and Roopa Y Shetty presented the programme. Kalpana K Shetty proposed vote of thanks. The programme came to an end with the rendering of national anthem.
