Mumbai, March 10 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets was trading flat at 59.30 points or 0.27 percent in the early trade Monday.
Good buying was observed in banking, oil and gas and capital goods sectors, while selling pressure was seen in IT sectors.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 21,819.19 points, was trading at 21,979.09 points in the early session, up 59.30points or 0.27 percent from the previous day's close at 21,919.79 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 22,005.54 points and a low of 21,805.22 points during the trade so far. The S&P BSE bankex gained 226.74 points, oil and gas index increased by 116.77 points and capital goods index went up by 199.12 points. However, IT index dropped by 129.74 points.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading flat at 6.55 points or 0.10 percent up at 6,533.20 points.
