Bantwal, Mar 9: Thieves entered house in Netrakere in Vittal village for the third time in the last three months on Friday when family members were away, and returned with a rich haul. Raveendra Kamath, employed at Ganesh Beedies in Puttur, who was at the receiving end of this theft, suffered as a result.
Kamath, along with his family members, had left for Shirali to attend a programme. He returned at about 8.30 pm the same day, and found that three stainless steel cupboards in the home had been broken open, and gold ornaments weighing 17 sovereigns, 260 US dollars in currency form, apart from several silver valuables totally worth several lacs of rupees, were burgled.
The thieves had entered the home from the backside roof made of sheets, and foot imprints are visible on the walls. About three months back, thieves had taken away things worth over a lac of rupees from the same house, and another failed theft attempt had been made when no one was at home thereafter. It is clear that some known persons keeping a close watch on the movement of the family members and making heist when they are away.
