Doha, Mar 7: Karnataka Sangha Qatar's 4th Badminton Tournament organised recently at Al Jazeera Academy was a grand success with nearly 150 members taking part in 350-odd matches. This year Karnataka Sangha added two additional categories - sub junior and junior to give youngsters an opportunity to show their skills in badminton.
The closing ceremony was attended by U T Khadar, minister of health and family welfare, government of Karnataka, who was on a visit to Qatar, as chief guest of honour. While accepting the honour, U T Khadar, congratulated KSQ, a premier Karnataka-based organisation for its effort to unite all Kannadigas staying in Qatar by organising sports, cultural and charitable activities. He spoke at length about human values and how to become a better human being.
Earlier, president Deepak Shetty welcomed and briefed the minister on various activities of KSQ in preserving Kannada language and culture in Qatar. He congratulated all the winners and thanked the members for their wholehearted support.
Anil Boloor, sports secretary conducted the prize distribution. Sandesh Anand, Charity Events co-ordinator was the MC and Mahesh Gowda, general secretary proposed the vote of thanks. Abdulla Monu, SKMWA past president and Nagesh Rao, KSQ vice-president were on the dais.
Seetharam Shetty, president, Tulu Koota, Ravi Shetty, president, Bunts Qatar, Divakar Poojary, president, Qatar Billawas, Mannangi, chairman, advisory board and past president of KSQ, and former presidents of KSQ Arun Kumar, Arvind Patil and Prabhakar and many committee members and office-bearers were present on the occasion.
